Sukhumvit Soi 11 is right in the heart of Bangkok’s nightlife and party scene. As a result, it has a buzzing atmosphere for most of the 24 hours a day that any place could offer.

Soi 11 is a place that offers much to please those hedonistic folk with some of the best nightclubs in Bangkok, while also catering to that more hi-so clientele requiring a cocktail or two. But, of course, it’s also got its standard Thai beer bars with plenty of attractive Thai ladies willing to serve you a drink and give you a run for your money in a game of pool.

Sukhumvit Soi 11 is about 800 metres long –with a heck of a lot going on, right next to Nana BTS station (SkyTrain).

Let’s first take a brief look at staying on one of Nana’s notorious bustling Soi’s.

Staying on Soi 11

With Soi 11 being in the centre of the action, it’s the perfect location for some guests of The Land of Smiles to stay a night or more.

There are a few budget and backpacker options. However, this area caters much better to those budgeting within the mid-range of 1500 THB and up.

The most popular hotels include:

Ambassador Hotel

The Ambassador is the most well-known hotel on Soi 11, and it is kind of a landmark. It was home to the popular nightclub Climax until covid hit the tourism sector in Thailand.

The hotel is Situated about halfway down Soi 11, a couple of hundred metres from Sukhumvit Road and offers various room options. It has a pool, fitness centre, and restaurant on-site and offers all the stuff we need on our travels like free wifi, TV, tea/coffee, and breakfast.

Mercure Hotel

Mercure is a four-star hotel that is extremely popular despite not being close to the cheapest option within the area. There are various room options available that are all four-star in appearance and quality.

Mercure is a hotel, from the lobby to the rooms, has a great looking modern decor and a nice ambience. You’ll find comfort in the executive lounge available, a rooftop swimming pool and bar, and a fitness centre. If it fits your budget and the location is right, then Mercure is a great option.

Grand President

The Grand President on Soi 11 is another four-star hotel, but it does have some cheaper room options than other four-star hotels on Sukhumvit 11. The hotel location is about halfway down Soi 11.

Grand President is one of those hotels that some visitors return back to annually for their dose of Nana atmosphere. There are various room types available, including large family suites.

The hotel has a relaxing outdoor pool area, a fitness centre, and a restaurant that offers breakfast and other meals.

Holiday Inn Express

Luckily for those that frequent Holiday Inn’s outside of Thailand, Soi 11 has one of those too. This is also another four-star hotel that’s further down Sukhumvit 11 and very close to many of the best restaurants.

Like many other Holiday Inn’s you can expect to find a modern interior design and modest size rooms. This Holiday Inn also has a gym, and while it does not have a swimming pool the hotel is more affordable for many compared to many others for this standard of hotel and breakfast is usually bunged in with the cost.

Soi 11 Restaurants and Eating

Let’s start with getting something to eat. You don’t want to be going out partying on an empty stomach.

Even if you are not planning on partying or boozing on or near Soi 11, the restaurant and eating scene may still interest you.

Unfortunately, I wish could give a better report on decent normal types of Thai restaurants. I mean the type where you can buy a few dishes for a few hundred baht to share or a single dish for 100 baht, that’s great food. Unfortunately, a couple of popular ones and one with a lovely garden do not offer great food, but the environment and cheap beers are the attraction.

You can do street food on Soi 11. Try a noodle or rice stand while on the go. You’ll know which is a good food stall –Thai people will be eating there.

Want an Indian curry? Soi 11 has that too!

Soi 11 offers plenty of western and foreign restaurants and eating options. Here are a few options to give you some idea of what’s available.

Tony’s Sukhumvit 11

Tony’s is a New York Italian restaurant –located in Hyde Sukhumvit 11 Condominium. They offer classic and contemporary American-Italian cuisine in a fine dining environment.

Bars and Clubs

Bars

About 100 metres down Soi 11, a small plaza of beer bars is on the left-hand side. These are the type of beer bars where you can play pool with the bar ladies or just sit with your bottle of Singha inside its foam beer koozie (also known as a beer bottle condom).

Further down Soi 11 you’ll find the Old German Beer House, Hillary 3 and a few other bars. I won’t name many bars as these come and go, so it’s best to take a walk and stop at a bar that takes your fancy.

There are also live band bars on Soi 11, and the most popular are from the Hillary group — Hillary 3 and Hillary 11 (drinking, dining and live bands).

Night Clubs

Soi 11 has been one of the most popular areas for many years catering for the nightclubbing foreigner scene, with many Thais also enjoying the late-night music and dance floor vibes.

Here is a brief look at what clubs you will find along the Soi.

Havana Social –everything Latino

Havana Social is worth a mention, even if it’s not your usual techno and house music banging tunes gaff. This place is known as the secret pre-revolutionary 1940’s Cuban Cocktail Bar with a design and theme based on the 1940’s prohibition bars.

Havana is a place you might want to go to dress up and look your coolest and drink sophisticated cocktails. Entertainment nights vary and include a salsa night, ladies’ night with a live Latin music band and other great evening entertainment that you’ll find a schedule of on their facebook page.

Sugar Club –Hip Hop & Rap

Sugar Club is a place well known by the hip-hop and rap music crowd of Bangkok. It can be hard to spot on Soi 11 because of its small entrance.

The club has two floors and VIP booths, and a host of various DJs that play a round of tunes nightly. A good mix of foreigners and Thai clientele land at this venue every evening till late.

Levels Club & Terrace –European dance music style

Levels is the most popular dance club in the area. It’s all about the European clubbing experience in the heart of Bangkok. Levels offers all the visual strobes and everything you would expect to find at a dance music club.

You can expect to see and hear international DJs as well as resident DJs and various themed event nights. Levels provides three areas where you can choose to dance, drink or relax the night away.

One Two Two Bar Club –vintage bar club

I think the owner had one or two too many when choosing the name of this establishment. This is another themed entertainment club that aims to bring the feel of the 1920’s from a French perspective.

One Two Two has two floors, with the lower floor having the bar centred around a red carpet. There is actually a lot of red going on in this place. It may be with popping in here and Havana Social, as they are within the same alley.

Rooftop – Skybars

Sukhumvit Soi 11 also has its share of rooftop bars that’s a hugely attractive feature of Bangkok’s nightlife.

Pastel

The most popular rooftop bars includes:

  • Pastel Bangkok – A Mediterranean rooftop bar and dining on the 22nd floor of Aira Hotel
  • Nest – A Thai/Asian dining and bar experience at Le Fenix Hotel open till late
  • Above Eleven – A restaurant bar serving Japanese fusion cuisine among other cuisines on the 33rd floor of Fraser Suites hotel

Other Sukhumvit 11 Stuff

Soi 11 has plenty of amenities like 7-11 convenience stores, pharmacies and coffee shops. Coffee shops include a Starbucks and Au Ban Pain.

While there are money exchange shops on Suk 11, I would recommend you head to Vasu Exchange for better rates on the other side of Sukhumvit Rd (corner of Sukhumvit 7/1). You only have to walk across the opposite side of the road via Nana BTS station steps.

Do you need a massage? Suk 11 has many massage shops, and as soon as you enter the road you’ll find a row of massage shops. Massage prices begin at around 300 THB.

All of the surrounding area and roads (Sois) of Suk 11 have a heck of a lot of the same and other stuff going on. It’s lively.

That just about wraps up a brief guide about Sukhumvit Soi 11 and what to expect.
