Manivone Restaurant – Things To Know

Since I first visited Vientiane in 2011 I have frequently stopped off at Manivone Restaurant for some straight forward Thai/Laos – throw it in a wok and on the table in 3 minute type of food for a refuel at lunchtime.

This place has been in business for some years.

Manivone is on the Rue Francois Ngin street which is popular for tourists and has hotels including Champa Garden there and Ban Laos beer garden .

The street itself is a great spot for being central to what’s needed in Vientiane for travelers.

Food & Menu

Food served here is typical Thai – Laos dishes. Soups (e.g., tom yam……..), friend rice, stir fry, papaya salad, (somtam), seafood and noodles. In terms of western food…I am not sure if any is available, and it’s not really the place for western style food.

Everything is cheap. Beer is just above the price of bottle of water and meals cost from as little as 10’000 kip (just over a US dollar).

On this occasion I ordered a stir fried spicy beef. It was delicious and spicy enough.

Ms. Manivone – Worth A Visit?

If you like eating local food and cheap, and maybe with a bottle of beer Laos (very cheap) then Manivone is worth stopping by, especially if you are staying near here. Of course it is no fancy restaurant and just basic.

This sort of place and Ban Lan restaurant are ideal places for getting a bite to eat during the day and not spending too much money. Dinner/night time is fine too for those that wish to eat cheap and maybe have a beer.

I do prefer the food here than Ban Laos on this street, but Ban Laos is a better environment (i.e., garden area).
