Dee Dee Pochana restaurant in Nong Khai ‘Thailand’ is a large Thai/Chinese type eatery serving a large variety of dishes
Dee Dee means good good in Thai language and on my two visits it was good good, or very good, I should say.
You’ll see these types of Thai/Chinese restaurants throughout Thailand and in most cities, especially Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Thai people with Chinese family heritage eat out at these types of establishments in large groups frequently.
I wanted to give this place a mention after my last visit to Nong Khai after visiting Vientiane in Laos to apply for a Thai visa. It’s a decent restaurant.
Restaurant & Service
The restaurant is a large place outdoors with a roof cover and has plenty of seating space. Service is good with a lot of staff available to call on to order and help.
Menu & Food
These places are really good for foreigners as there are always plenty of food options, especially for those that won’t or can’t eat spicy food. The menu also has plenty of pictures to identify what you might want to eat.
The food is Thai and Chinese and of course, Isan dishes are on the menu. A good option for these restaurant types that I did not order this time was steamed sea bass and then a couple of side dishes.
There are many soups, noodles, stir-fried dishes, goose feet, fried frog skin, duck dishes, seafood dishes or even just plain old fried rice to choose from the menu. You can’t go wrong here in finding something you like even if you are very choosy about Thai food and avoid spice like the plague.
The prices are reasonable. You can eat here for less than 100 THB or up to about 500 THB a person if you have beer or two.
Here are a few dishes I ate at Dee Dee restaurant on two occasions….
I thought how they serve the beer with ice already frozen at the bottom of the glass is a good idea. Never seen this before. Beer is cheap and costs around 100 THB a bottle.
Worth a Visit?
Most definitely worth a visit if you like plenty of Thai/Chinese menu options. From the usual fried rice to fried frog skin or goose feet.
It’s one of my favourite options in Nong Khai for eating and the best for this type of food.
Conveniently situated just a few meters up the road from Dee Dee is Soi Nitapat. This is where a cluster of beer bars open until late.

I’m Jonesy. The one responsible for whole lot of things including having this Thailand site up and running. I first arrived in Thailand in 2008 and being a web developer it made sense to create a website and write some stuff about my second home. Enjoy your travels!
