 Ca Phe Viet

The Ca Phe Viet Vietnamese Restaurant in Nong Khai on the border of Laos (Vientiane) is conveniently situated next to the Mekong River and close to the main guesthouse and hotel area of Nong Khai.

This eatery is very popular among the local Thai people. Serving Vietnamese baguettes (Bánh Mì), Viet sausage, noodles, Isan dishes, and Vietnamese coffee that’s worth trying if you like your coffee.

I only ate here once on this visit to Nong Khai. I was busy trying other places, but i would return again. Ca Phe Viet was worth giving a mention for its convenient location, value for money food and the comfortable and attractive old-style decor restaurant look and feel.

Restaurant & Service

This place can get quite busy, especially on the weekends. There are plenty of waiters/waitresses waiting on customers but not all of them are attentive (also noticed this mentioned in another review), however, that’s not to say they’re not friendly.

The restaurant has a large seating area downstairs and near the front section is very pleasant. You may also sit with a view of the Mekong upstairs if you wish.

I do apologize for the lack of pictures of the other parts of the restaurant.

Menu & Food

Various spicy salad dishes with Vietnamese sausage and other meats are popular. If you just want a bowl of 50 THB noodles or a Vietnamese baguette, they’re on the menu too.

The deserts look great that i did not have the chance to try. Durian fruit, sticky rice with ice cream would be great to try out next time.

I ordered a Mekong river fish soup and grilled pork. The soup was tasty and spicy but not a lot of fish in the bowl (not the best choice i could have made), and the grilled pork was great with the spicy dip. I think the bill totaled around 250 THB with a bottle of water included with the two dishes.
