The Top 7 Night Markets in Pattaya You Might Like To Check Out
-- Last Updated on February 16, 2023 by JonesyEveryone loves a good night market in Thailand. And if you are visiting Pattaya anytime soon you’ll be pleased to find a fair few of them operating regularly in various regions of the city.
Some of these markets are quite close to, if not immediately opposite to the beach, and there are some nice views to be had in places like Jomtien Night Market. Admittedly there’s not too much being sold in any of these markets too different from any other in Thailand, but the atmosphere is lively and convivial enough.
If you are lucky you may even be able to feel a sea breeze while perusing one of these night markets in Pattaya—one of the main reasons they are a popular stop-off for a spot of shopping, maybe followed by a beer and some food.
As Pattaya is a seaside tourist town the one thing about the night markets there is the sheer variety of food. This typically encompasses all the local signature Thai dishes alongside many favourite international options which include Russian, Greek, and other Western cuisine options.
So with that in mind let’s take a closer look at what many consider the top five night markets in Pattaya.
1. Thep Prasit Night Market
Thep Prasit is also known locally as something of a weekend market, and Thep Prasit is also the name of the road where you can find this popular night market in Pattaya. In fact this could be one of, if not THE busiest and most-visited market in the city due to its location and wares.
One of the main immediate benefits for anyone driving is the market’s extensive parking area. Shoppers will delight at the colourful and extensive array of stalls that line the walkways of the market. The market operates Friday through Sunday and draws reasonable crowds throughout.
Standard Thai market fare such as clothes, accessories, souvenirs, and electronics are on offer to name just a few, and bargaining is always a possibility. You’ll also likely encounter the usual range of counterfeit items like designer clothing brands, bags, watches and even cosmetics.
Visitors can also find stalls selling various locally-made snacks, desserts, and fresh fruit juice as well as bigger meals and beer. There are a handful of kiosks around the market selling beer and a few tables and seats are set close to the vicinity of the food stalls. It does get more difficult to find a spot here as the evening wears on.
— Location: Thep Prasit Rd, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
— Opening hours: 05.00 pm- 11 pm, Friday-Sunday
2. Jomtien Night Market
Jomtien Night Market is often considered one of the best in the city for a variety of reasons.
Primarily it is in a somewhat more upmarket stretch of Pattaya than some of the central regions and visitors to the market will also find themselves privy to some great views—especially around the time of sunrise or sunset.
The market features vendors selling the typical range of clothing, handicrafts, accessories, souvenirs, and cosmetics like the others, and it is a popular hangout spot for locals and tourists alike. Not quite on the scale of our first pick, Jomtien Night Market does however have consistent and regular opening times by operating daily throughout the high season.
The market features a plethora of food and beverage stalls selling at reasonable prices. Visitors can enjoy local Thai signature dishes alongside various international cuisines, and the pop-up bars dotted around are usually complemented by concert-sized speakers and music at a volume to match.
— Location: Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
— Opening hours: 5.00 pm-11.30 pm or later every day
3. Pratumnak Night Market
Pratumnak Night Market is in a great spot in the town close to the region of other attractions like the Big Buddha. This makes it another one of the most popular night markets in Pattaya. This particular market is known to open as early as 1.00pm and it usually operates until around midnight on a daily basis.
Again visitors will find nothing too original or unique from any of the other Pattaya night markets, but mostly people come for the vibe rather than any specific goods being sold.
Here you’ll find clothing, accessories, various souvenirs, and food sold from tents and other stalls, although due to the location you can expect slightly more inflated prices.
The Pratumnak Night market is also known as the Russian Night Market as it is popular with Russian visitors and features a decent selection of Russian fare alongside other Western food and local Thai fayre. You can also indulge in the usual pitchers of beer, and the layout of the market gives it a reasonably child friendly atmosphere.
The market also provides an outdoor seating arrangement in a courtyard, allowing shoppers to enjoy their food. There is plenty of available parking space for those coming by car. Alternatively, the beachfront market can also be reached by the local Tuk-Tuk.
— Location: Pratumnak, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
— Operating hours: 1.00 pm-12.00 am daily
4. Pattaya Night Bazaar
Pattaya Night Bazaar is a large and lively affair with stalls and vendors in excess of 250. The items for sale cover the usual categories of clothing, shoes, luggage, jewellery & accessories, and Thai souvenirs.
This is more of an indoor recreation area typical of the larger night markets in Pattaya. The bazaar features sheltered, air-conditioned space in which to indulge in a spot of shopping and eating.
The market is virtually indoors but aside from that it is similar enough to the other markets and it serves as a good place to practice any burgeoning bargaining skills. The original items for sale here will be included alongside the well-crafted counterfeit items.
Although this bazaar is classified as a night market it is actually open the entire day and offers plenty of parking spaces if required. The market doesn’t actually feature any food stalls inside but there are plenty on the outside surrounding the area.
— Location: 519/106 10 Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
— Opening hours: 08.00 am-11.00 pm
5. Soi BuaKhao Night Market
This Pattaya night market on the street of the same name is another lively and bustling affair in a busy part of the town. Visitors will encounter the usual array of vendors peddling everything from clothes and accessories to a variety of street food.
The market is located at the conjunction of Soi BuaKhao Road and South Pattaya Road, which makes it popular although it only opens twice weekly. BuaKao is an open market with makeshift tents for stalls and various kiosks offering anything and everything that you might expect to find in a Pattaya night market.
This market does have a couple of its own unique features on top of the usual fare such as locally-grown fruits and spices, and even pets. And with the other Pattaya night markets, the price of items in Soi BuaKhao are not necessarily fixed.
This is another Pattaya night market strangely devoid of food stalls, but again it is common to see vendors setting up their wares along the street. Aside from that it is easy to locate a small cafe or low-cost restaurant options around the vicinity of the market area which remain open into the night hours.
— Location: 350 9 Central Pattaya Road, 3 Soi BuaKhao, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
— Operating hours: 5pm-2am Tuesday and Friday
6. Pattaya Floating Market
A unique rendition of the typical night markets in Pattaya, this is also a Floating Market known as the Four Regions Floating Market. This is one of the area’s top tourist attractions and is divided into four sections that each represent goods from the four directions of Thailand namely the north, south, east, and west.
Many of the vendors are situated in small wooden hut-type stalls on stents, selling locally-made artefacts and goods. The market area spans 100,000 square metres or more and features over 100 vendors. The main attraction of this market like the majority of floating affairs is the food, and as it is so popular the floating market is also open fairly early in the daytime.
Visitors can delight in authentic Thai fayre like Pad Thai, Kanom Jean, and Foi Thong amongst other local treats.
The floating market also features a handicraft museum and various other attraction points such as sunflowers and other agricultural fields. The theme of the market is cultural as well as agricultural and visitors can find themselves privy to various events and small shows of an evening.
Location: 451/304 Moo 12, Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya
Operating hours: 10.00 am- 11.00 pm daily.
7. Pattaya Park Night Market
This is one of the busier, covered types of Pattaya night market. It features the usual variety of vendors selling local food, snacks and desserts, as well as clothing & accessories, luggage, bags, shoes, and electronic items to name just a few.
Pattaya Park is a clean-looking market and a popular night shopping destination for locals and visitors. Although this market is another early-opener, it only starts to liven up around dusk.
Visitors to the market will find plenty of fruit stalls and other street-type vendors as well as a separate food and drink section which has tables and chairs dotted around. More seating with music can be found in the centre of the market, which only adds to the atmosphere
Address: Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150
