Nong Thin public park in Nong Khai is not quite as beautiful as parks we are accustomed to in Bangkok, like Lumpini park, Suan Luang and others. However, it is a place for residents of the town to visit for recreation purposes and has potential to be beautiful.
Open: 4am – 9.30pm
Address: Mi Chai, Mueang Nong Khai District, Nong Khai 43000
Location: About 2.5 km from the Tha Sadet market area
I went to check out Nong Thin public park to see if it’s a worthwhile place to visit and attraction for travelers while staying in Nong Khai on a motorcycle.
There are two really nice lakes at the park, an outdoor gym area, kid’s play area and there’s so much potential for this place to be just as beautiful as the parks in Bangkok. However, it does need some loving attention as it’s lacking in what it could be.
In the evening the locals use the park for exercise, football and other outdoor activities.
Worth Visiting Nong Thin Park?
The park is not a place that tourists are going to visit and be impressed. Nong Thin park is not really intended to be a tourist attraction and is for local people who are happy to use the park. During the evenings the Mekong riverfront promenade is much more attractive for travellers.
If in the future if the government is able to give the park a good sprucing up with flowers and fauna it could make a lovely place to cycle and relax for travellers.
I’m Jonesy. The one responsible for whole lot of things including having this Thailand site up and running. I first arrived in Thailand in 2008 and being a web developer it made sense to create a website and write some stuff about my second home. Enjoy your travels!
