- Would like a kettle in the room for making hot drinks (Nong Khai seems to be famous for non-kettle providing). Tea and coffee is free downstairs so it's no biggie
- The bars opposite the hotel are ideal for some - but others may not be happy staying near girly bars (just worth mentioning - pro or con? depends on the person)
- No breakfast. Breakfast can be bought within seconds of leaving the hotel
Location
Location is perfect in terms of being in the center of the city for restaurants, bars (across the street), places to visit and the White Inn is not too far from the riverfront. It’s not quite on the riverfront unlike other hotels and guesthouses, but it’s still only 800 meters and 10 minutes to walk.
Located on Soi Nitapat, also known as boxing street, means you are directly opposite and on the main street of lady and beer bars. They are mostly fairly quiet during the week and get a bit more lively on the weekend (may be noisy for some) – but they’re certainly no Pattaya Walking street or Soi Cowboy (Bangkok). While one man may love this another may not – up to you as they say.
Rooms & Amenities
Rooms are modern and clean, and a good size for the price of a room per night. If a TV in the room (Thai channels), a fridge, a few other accessories (apart from a kettle) and a comfortable bed is all that is required then White Inn has you covered.
Wifi is not bad at all and pretty good compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Nong Khai.
Hotel & Facilities
As the White Inn is more along the budget side of hotel pricing there is not much in terms of facilities available. The downstairs lobby is a good sitting area and tea or coffee is provided free of charge. There is no restaurant and breakfast, but plenty within seconds of walking.
Staff & Service
The rooms are cleaned daily and staff respond well to any requests or problems. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, and someone will be able to communicate in English.
Overall – Suitable For…
Overall the White Inn Nong Khai hotel is a comfortable and very pleasing budget hotel, and value for money. Not much to complain about really.
For those that do not like to stay near bars, this place may not be a good idea for you to stay. If you like to be near bars and the action (very low key type of action) then this could be ideal.
Location is central, but if you want to be closer to the Mekong river promenade area then other options may be more suitable, although prices and value for money may differ.
