Yeap Noodles – Heap of Flavours

On Georgetown’s most popular street for tourists, Chulia St, you’ll find the fabulous Yeap noodles shop. Serving fat, tasty and delicious noodles.

Yeap Noodles Entrance

I’ve stayed near and walked Chulia St more times than I can remember and somehow never tried Yeap noodles. Always walked past, but never tried.

This visit I checked them out and for someone who likes a decent bowl of noodles ‘while on the move’ and has tried many places and types to compare – Yeap is now in the top 10 of that list for the balance of value, flavours, freshness and types.

So good – I ate there most days on this trip.

The Noodles and Soup

There are various types of noodles to go with the base soup that you can watch being freshly made in the shop ‘daily’. These are a thick type of noodle, kind of like spaghetti pasta. Plain, bamboo charcoal (black) and spinach are available among others.

Yeap Noodles Menu

While all noodles don’t really have much flavour – it’s all about the soup, they can have a texture and these do have a great texture. Not easy for me to eat with chopsticks ‘slippery’ with this type of thick noodle, fortunately spoons come to the rescue.

All About The Soup
A great soup is what makes the noodles of course. Yeap has many types of which I tried the curry, clear and milky and all were great – very tasty. There is also Tom Yam (Thai) and herbal I would like to try.

Whichever soup I tried they all had plenty of meat and/or vegetables included.

Unfortunately I did not plan to include Yeap noodles on this site and did not take photos of all the meals.

Curry Noodles With Fried Dumplings

Not Just The Noodles

On my last visit to Yeap before leaving Penang I tried the curry noodles (photo above) and the fried dumplings. Fried wantan dumplings was crispy, fresh and delicious. It’s also worth mentioning there’s a good choice of drinks including herbal drinks and fresh juices.
